Yūkari Ceramics
Danielle Yukari is a Japanese-Brazilian manual artist based in Los Angeles, CA. Inspired by Asian ceramics heritage and contemporary craftsmanship, her work is focused primarily on functional objects that are developed manually, from start to finish.
Yukari's minimalistic yet colorful universe adds humanness, delicacy, and craft to the often cold contemporary living spaces and aims to elevate everyday activities into deeply personal rituals.
Danielle has invited me to create artworks for the new edition of postcards, inspired by nature, colors, the scalloped world, daydreams, and even her adorable Poodle, Valentino.
Ajaz.org (2022)
Ajaz.org funds charities that support children and families who face difficult times. They asked Anyways to find and commission relevant artists to express the foundation's mission and impact. I was invited to visually represent two organisations supported by Ajaz.
Free Your Mind: Supports children who have witnessed violence by providing therapeutic support to help cope with the trauma of living around domestic abuse.
Coram: Coram is committed to improving lives of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people, from birth to independence, creating positive change that lasts a lifetime.
Playbook (2022)
Playbook is a cloud storage platform where you can store, tag, and organize files and folders. They invited me to create a set of illustrations that showcase the power of creativity and collaboration, which are available for download by Playbook users.
It’s Nice That has partnered up with Spotify Fresh Finds, the go-to playlist collection for emerging artists across genres. Pairing up a global group of independent visual artists with musical ones, the group have created a series of patterned backgrounds representing each genre.
I was commissioned to create a series of artworks for the Fresh Finds Pop playlists. I also spoke with It's Nice That about my creative process and music.
“To represent the pure joy that pop music evokes, Paola’s artworks portray how for the artist “Pop music is about dancing, singing out loud and having fun,” resulting in artworks with a high level of movement and energy. Working intuitively to elicit this feeling, the illustrator describes her creative process as embodying that “improvisation and unpredictability that reminds me of body movements when dancing,” she tells It’s Nice That.”
